From January 15th, most e-cards without a photo will be invalid. Since January 2020, new e-cards have only been issued with a photo. Most insured people in Austria have already received their card with the addition of a photo without them having to do anything. But there are still people who have to submit a picture first because the local authorities don’t yet have a photo. If an image is available in the holdings of the passport or driving license authorities or the immigration register for the issuance of an e-card with a photo, that is sufficient.
