Eagles roster faces reset following key departures and player trades

The Eagles need to reset their entire roster. This assessment follows a period of significant transition for the Philadelphia franchise, which is now navigating the loss of key personnel and a shift in offensive leadership. According to a recent report, the team’s current state is marked by the departure of long-time offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland and the retirement of veteran right tackle Lane Johnson.

The Impact of Coaching and Personnel Changes

The franchise’s offensive line unit has undergone a dramatic transformation. Stoutland, who coached Eagles offensive linemen for 13 seasons and contributed to two Super Bowl victories, stepped down following the previous season. Following the departure of Stoutland and the retirement of Jason Kelce, the team confirmed that 36-year-old Lane Johnson has also retired after starting the first three games of the current season.

The roster continues to see movement as the organization adjusts its lineup. The Eagles announced the trade of center Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a second-round pick and additional compensation. Jurgens had been filling in at the guard position while Landon Dickerson was on the injured reserve list.

Upcoming Roster Adjustments

As the team prepares for its matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the starting offensive line is expected to feature Jordan Mailata at left tackle, Willie Lampkin at left guard, and Drew Kendall at center. Tyler Steen is slated to remain at right guard as the team attempts to stabilize the unit following these personnel shifts. The current configuration reflects the team’s ongoing effort to manage a depleted roster in the wake of significant departures.
