In the stellar neighborhood of the sun, it’s almost a matter of moving closer together. Observations in recent years have revealed around three dozen exoplanets within a radius of 20 light years. In the closest system, Proxima Centauri, at 4.2 light years, two exoplanets and at least one other candidate are already known. Proxima Centauri is a member of a triple system whose other two stars, Alpha Centauri A and B (4.3 light-years away), are also suspected of harboring planets.
