Objects of diving equipment belonging to two different people were discovered Friday in the waters of the Lacs de L’Eau d’Heure during the search for the two divers who went missing after a night dive Thursday evening at the site of the Plate Taille in Froidchapelle (Hainaut), the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office said on Friday evening. The excavations will resume on Saturday.

Divers missing at the Eau d’Heure lakes: Christophe and Frédéric “were both experienced divers”

The two divers born in 1964 and 1977, originally from the Waremme and Crisnée region, went missing after carrying out a night dive Thursday evening around 5:00 p.m. on the Plate Taille site at the Eau d’Heure Lakes. “This is a site which is not at all intended for such an activity. They seem to be used to diving at the Eau d’Heure Lakes”, commented the Charleroi prosecutor’s office on Friday morning.

Crisnée civil protection is looking for the two missing divers: “The difficulty is that the area is very large”

The son of one of the divers alerted the authorities, worried about not having any news from his father and after discovering his father’s vehicle parked on site at the scene.

The search, which began last night, continued this Friday from midday. Civil protection divers equipped with sonar found equipment belonging to two different people. The excavations will resume this Saturday. “The chances of finding the divers alive are more than slim,” added the Charleroi prosecutor’s office.
