«After more than 20 years of operation, the situation of the debts of the Support Fund for Youth Initiatives (FAIJ), the Support Fund for the Promotion of Employment (FAPE) and the Support Fund for the Informal Sector (FASI) is characterized by high rates of unrecovered debts. A total of 27.7 billion was made available to beneficiaries who do not repay.

Of this amount, around 6 billion are likely to be recovered. Which is already a good thing. The other 21 billion, as specified in the press release from the Council of Ministers, measures are needed to recover them. There is therefore forced recovery in the air, if certain beneficiaries refuse to give up. Under President Kaboré’s regime, the merger of these Funds was also considered for greater efficiency and traceability of beneficiaries. The Transition has the opportunity to shake up the coconut tree and bring a little order to make these Funds sustainable, the primary function of which is to support income-generating projects for disadvantaged groups.

The same goes for the beneficiaries of SONATER tractors, more than 3.5 billion CFA francs. If they do not repay, the agricultural mechanization project will take years to decline. Reimbursing here then becomes a patriotic act.o
