The value of Egyptian exports declined by 44.9% last April

According to the monthly bulletin of foreign trade data issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, the deficit in the trade balance amounted to $2.33 billion during last April, compared to about $1.89 billion during the same period last year.

The Statistics Authority indicated that the value of Egyptian exports decreased by 44.9% during the month of April, as it fell to about $3.03 billion, compared to about $5.50 billion during the same period last year.

The decrease in the value of Egyptian exports during the month of April is due to the decline in Egypt’s exports of some commodities, the most important of which are natural and liquefied gas by 75.6%, fresh fruits by 58.8%, crude oil by 48.2%, and ready-made clothes by 34.1%.

On the other hand, Egypt’s exports of some commodities increased during the month of April, the most important of which are iron rods, sticks, angles, and wires by 568.8%, pasta and various food preparations by 35.6%, fresh onions by 65.8%, and dairy products by 1.4%.

On the other hand, the value of Egyptian imports declined during the month of April by 27.4%, to record about $5.36 billion, compared to about $7.38 billion during the same period last year.

The decrease in the value of imports is due to the decline in imports of some commodities, the most important of which is wheat by 1.4%, organic and inorganic chemicals by 2.1%, plastics in their primary forms by 33.6%, and raw materials of iron or steel by 52.4%.

While the value of imports of some commodities increased during April 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, the most important of which are petroleum products by 13.8%, corn by 61.3%, natural gas by 16.6%, and iron ores and concentrates by 5.2%.
