The girl’s mother has now filed a lawsuit, as US media reported on Tuesday (local time). The child was “forcibly sucked into a 30 to 40 centimeter unsecured opening in the swimming pool’s flow system,” according to the lawsuit, which was published by US media. The accident happened on Saturday.
Desperate search
The family rented a room in the hotel in the US state of Texas to enjoy a day of swimming together. The girl suddenly disappeared in the afternoon. The mother was desperately looking for her daughter and asked the hotel to look at the images from the surveillance cameras. However, the video material was only viewed after the woman reported the child missing to the police.
One million dollars in damages
The video footage showed the girl sinking into the pool and not resurfacing. The eight-year-old’s body was only recovered the following day after an operation lasting several hours, US media reported. It was discovered in the “pipes of the defective pool system,” the lawsuit says. The mother is therefore demanding damages of more than one million dollars (around 924,000 euros).
