If you play have played Dark Souls Where Bloodborneyou are aware that the developers of From Software are fond of two things: endless boss fights, and little secrets. The formula remains the same for Elden Ring since the Entre-Terre is full of details that can be missed quite easily, such as the Machiavellian plans of a NPCs you take for a friendor even a simple and effective trick to beat the toughest boss in the game. If you play in offline mode, you may have missed the famous secret walls Game.
Elden Ring’s secret walls are actually barriers that can give you access to priceless treasures or boss fightslike areas you can unlock using stone sword keys. Only here, these “walls” look very similar to the other elements of the decor, and you risk missing them if you are not careful – unless you play online, in which case you will probably see lots of messages from other players indicating the presence of a secret entrance, even if the risk of running into a troll is relatively high. To detect these hidden walls, you must take the time to observe the environment and note the things that seem strange to you: a bookcase without a book, a nearby noise without any exit around it or a wall that seems different from the others, for example.
Once you find one of these secret passages, you’ll either have to kick it or roll towards it to break the illusion. It’s a process that can take quite a bit of time, like finding a completely different kind of secret in Elden Ring…
The invisible paths of Elden Ring, enemies of vertigo
It seems that in addition to hiding secrets behind walls, the developers also had fun hiding invisible paths in the scenery, but you’ll have to take more risks to discover them! Indeed, the only way to discover these invisible paths is to grope them, i.e. by literally jumping into the void at the places which seem suspicious to you, which will quite often result in a rather painful death – unless you know exactly where to look, and have a good stash of Rainbow Stones. If you’re playing online, you might see pools of blood on the floor of these areas depending on how many players missed their jumps. You can find that secret path in the direction of the Sacred Treeshortly after brandishing your secret locket in front of the Rold lift. Be aware, however, that there are other unseen paths, one of which is north of the Giant’s Peaks. behind the Heretic Shardstone Tower, you’ll find a broken bridge that seems impassable. It is indeed an invisible path, and like the one that leads to the Sacred Tree, you can help yourself with rainbow stones to make the way to the tower.
