The application for the Lower Austrian electricity price discount is also attached Vienna Energy and compound only possible online. Eleven cents per kilowatt hour of electricity are subsidized for 80 percent of the average consumption of a household, this consumption was determined by E-Control.
The decisive factor is the number of people registered at the place of residence. A one-person household receives 169.58 euros per year, two people receive 272.36 euros, three people 374.44 euros, four people 415.80 euros and five people 457.07 euros. Each additional person in the household receives an additional 41.27 euros.
Credit on electricity bill
All persons who have their main place of residence in Lower Austria are entitled to claim. The subsidy is credited to the electricity bill and is limited to September 30, 2023.
At the association, the funding amount will be credited with the next annual statement on November 1, 2022 at the earliest, according to the website. Pre-registration is possible at Wien Energie from September 26, and according to the information on the homepage, a link will probably be sent to you by e-mail at the end of October in order to complete the application. The data is forwarded to the central register for verification, after which the discount is paid out as a credit.
In the EVN you could also register online for the discount. Customers of electricity suppliers who do not process the discount directly can use the State of Lower Austria apply for.
Funding independent of the electricity price brake
The Lower Austrian electricity price discount is granted independently of the federal electricity price brake, the key points of which are as follows: From December to June 2024, the electricity price for all households is to be capped at ten cents per kWh automatically and without application up to a mark of around 2,900 kWh annual consumption. A possible “excessive subsidy” through the federal electricity price brake and the state’s electricity price rebate – i.e. that you receive more funding than the electricity costs actually account for – is accepted, it said at the beginning of September at the exam of the ÖVP state parliament club – more on that in Energy discount: ÖVP accepts “overfunding”.
