Electricity signs a memorandum of understanding with German Siemens

A statement by the media office of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, received by Alsumaria News, stated that “the memorandum was signed by the Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel, while it was signed by Siemens, the company’s CEO, Christian Bruch.”

The memorandum of understanding includes, according to the statement, “a set of basic clauses that constitute a map of action for the development of the electricity system in Iraq.”

In light of the memorandum, Siemens is working, in coordination with the Ministry of Electricity, to develop an integrated plan for the electricity system in general, which includes solutions to problems, and the company is also establishing new generation stations, according to the statement.

He added, “The memorandum of understanding included that Siemens present an integrated study to Iraq, including how to benefit from associated gas, in supporting and increasing the production of electric power.”

It also included “the signing of a long-term agreement to maintain and rehabilitate operating units in Iraq established by Siemens, as well as the implementation of renewable energy projects, namely solar energy and wind movement, and the establishment of transfer stations in all regions of Iraq, in addition to developing and qualifying the cadres of the Ministry of Electricity and transferring expertise.” .
