A film about billionaire Elon Musk by a prestigious director? Yes, and it happens. Darren Aronofsky is going to make a biopic on Elon Musk and could make him a modern emperor.
The shock director Requiem for a Dream and the unclassifiable Mother! surprised moviegoers with the big return of Brendan Fraser in The Whale in 2023 (Oscar for best actor). And as he returns from the screening of his (a priori) crazy documentary Postcard From Earth at the Sphere in Las Vegas, the filmmaker would be working on a totally unexpected project.
While he was supposed to direct a supernatural horror film with Jared Leto, Aronofsky would have had a sudden desire to rub shoulders with an imperial story. Indeed, it had been reported that Darren Aronofsky could direct a film simply titled Emperor. Even more, the director of Black Swan would ultimately be at the helm of a biopic on the CEO of SpaceX and X: controversial billionaire Elon Musk. And it risks being really lunar.

The information was initially announced by Puck and confirmed by IndieWire. Darren Aronofsky is working on a biopic inspired by Elon Musk, the biography written by Walter Isaacson. The author is also behind the authorized biography Steve Jobs which inspired the eponymous film by Danny Boyle with Michael Fassbender (Oscar nominated), written by the brilliant Aaron Sorkin.
Stranger still: the project is developed by A24the production company which produced and/or distributed Everything Everywhere All at Once, Heredity, Midsummer, The Witchet The Whalethe Darren Aronofsky.
So, it could well be that this biopic is linked to Emperor, a project that the filmmaker was developing with a budget of $70 million. And it could be hilarious (or very worrying) that these two projects are linked.

elon MUSK VALIDATE THE PROJECT
This did not fail to make the main person react. On X, the name he chose for his new Twitter, Elon Musk has already shared his enthusiasm, recalling that Darren Aronofsky “is one of the best”. A multi-billionaire, notably CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, who seems to be following the project (very) closely.

For now, release date remains unknown, and we do not know if the filmmaker, used to being a screenwriter for his own films, will participate in the writing of this biopic. In all cases, it has the merit of being particularly curious when we know the man’s career, oscillating between pretentious audacity, guerrilla cinema and unique visual and narrative mastery.
