The world’s richest man announced recently that he is suspending his attempt to acquire Twitter, weeks after agreeing to acquire the private company in a deal worth $44 billion.
Musk wrote on Twitter today, Friday, that a Twitter deal is temporarily suspended pending details that support the accounts that fake, spam and fake accounts already represent less than 5% of users.
CNN said that this news led to Twitter shares dropping more than 20% in pre-market trading.
And Elon Musk had previously said on Twitter that the time tweets look much better than what the “algorithm” suggests.
Musk was referring to the feature that lets you see the most recent tweets posted at the top of your timeline, rather than letting the Twitter algorithm determine the ranking by picking the tweets you think you’ll find most interesting.
Twitter founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey also shared his own take on the Twitter algorithm – a timeline was created, explaining to Musk that “the algorithm is good at highlighting things you might otherwise miss by not scrolling.”
Dorsey also noted that his latest tweets are “best for live and urgent events,” adding that “choice is the most important.”
