Washington: The European Union has issued a warning to X (formerly Twitter) CEO Elon Musk following he spread fake news and videos on Hamas-Israel attacks. Due to the Palestine-Israel war, many fake news stories have been circulating on the X platform in the past few days.

Fake videos on X are circulating with headlines saying Palestinian fighters are killing Israeli citizens and it’s happening in our neighborhood and family.

Complaints once morest Musk intensified following fake news was spread on X. The European Union then wrote to Musk asking for a response within 24 hours.

Apart from X, many fake news are being spread through platforms like Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. But media including India Today found out through fact checking that such news is not from Hamas.

An investigation by India Today has revealed that the video circulating with the headline ‘Hamas shoots Israeli children’ is a behind-the-scenes footage of the shooting of the short film ‘Empty Place’.

According to the report, a 2014 video of a Hamas spokesman congratulating Iran for receiving aid to launch an attack on Israel was circulated on social media by UN Israeli representative Gilad Erdan without fact-checking.
