The Board of Directors of the Emirates Football Association decided, during its emergency meeting held yesterday at the federation’s headquarters in Dubai, during which they discussed developments regarding the resignation of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi from the presidency of the federation, assuming the first vice president of the federation, Abdullah Nasser Al Junaibi, as president of the federation temporarily, and granting him all the powers granted to the president. This is until a general assembly is called within 90 days to elect a new board of directors for the Football Association. The Board of Directors affirmed the continuation of work in the federation according to the approved programmes.
During the meeting, the Board of Directors of the Emirates Football Association thanked Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi for the period of work he spent as president of the federation, since the current board assumed its duties in January of the year 2020 during the 2020-2024 electoral cycle.
The Secretary-General of the Football Association, Muhammad bin Hazam Al-Dhaheri, said in press statements after the meeting: “The council decided, in accordance with the text of Article 99 of the statute of the Football Association, that the first vice-president, Abdullah Nasser Al-Junaibi, assume the presidency of the federation until the call for a general assembly to elect a new board of directors, and it will be sent Invitations to hold the General Assembly to the clubs that are members of the Football Association, 60 days before the date of the General Assembly.
It is noteworthy that the first vice president is Abdullah Nasser Al Junaibi, and the second vice president is Hussein Al Sahlawi.
The Secretary General of the Football Association indicated that the current board of directors is not entitled to extend the 90-day period for holding a general assembly to elect a new board of directors.
The current board continues its work until the call for a “general meeting” within 90 days to elect a new board of directors.
