Under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, President of the Emirates Society for Genetic Diseases, the “Emirates Parkinson’s Friends” at the Society, in cooperation with the People of Determination Council, Dubai Police, organized an interactive session with a wide range of world-renowned Parkinson’s experts from Four continents, a number of honorary guests, a committee of experts in physiotherapy, and a committee of patient experts from 11 nationalities, in the presence of Dr. Maryam Matar, founder and chairperson of the association.
The interactive session coincides with the “World Parkinson’s Day”, which is celebrated on April 11, and coincides with the birth of Dr. James Parkinson, the discoverer of the disease in 1817, and is an important opportunity to promote awareness and spread knowledge of this disease that affects 6.5 million people in the world.
The event aims to provide the target community with promising scientific developments with effective preventive methods, with early detection of disease mutations and gene-inducing factors, the latest drug and genetic treatments, the role of the microbiome and stem cells.
The latest Emirati study comparing the pathological, clinical, genetic and therapeutic response among local patients compared to patients of other nationalities was presented and its preliminary results were discussed, before publishing in one of the scientific journals of the highest standard.
