ABU DHABI, June 7 / WAM / Aref Hamad Al-Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, confirmed that the capital Abu Dhabi’s hosting of the fourth and fifth editions of the Egyptian Super Cup reflects the close ties and unity of destiny that unite the UAE and sisterly Egypt.

Commenting on the signing of a partnership agreement for Abu Dhabi’s hosting of the Egyptian Super matches for the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Al-Awani indicated that the event is being held in cooperation with the United Media Services Company and Presentation Sports.

He pointed out that the two matches represent, for the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, an important continuation of the plans to attract important regional, continental and international sporting events, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and his great interest in supporting the plans of consolidating the UAE leadership and emphasizing its distinguished approach, and its openness in peace and tolerance towards the various peoples of the world.

He noted that the hosting enhances the council’s ambitious plans and great endeavors, thanks to which the capital, Abu Dhabi, has become a platform for meeting the world’s elite athletes, the most important teams and global sports decision-makers.

He said: “We are proud of embracing the Egyptian Super, especially following the great successes achieved by past experiences and important gains, where the Egyptian youth gathering and the support of the large Egyptian masses on the land of the Emirates, and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council is keen to harness all possibilities to achieve organizational success for the two Egyptian Super Cup matches, and to work on Enhance the prestige of major events.

For his part, Mohammed Abdullah Hazam Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of the Emirates Football Association, said: “The Football Association welcomes the UAE and Abu Dhabi’s hosting of the Egyptian Super Cup, as a result of its great value in technical, public, media and marketing terms, in a way that supports historical relations and the fateful links between the Emirates and Egypt, and enhances the march and plans of work. The continuous development, the busy agenda, and the joint efforts in support of the continuous development of the sports movement in the two countries.”

He added: “The great support given by our wise leadership to the sports sector is bearing fruit constantly and with great success. Perhaps the Egyptian Super Cup is the best evidence that the UAE has become the world’s leading destination in hosting the most important and largest international sporting events, due to its great organizational experience and advanced infrastructure. And stadiums of the highest quality, and hotels with the best image in the world, which is positively reflected on the translation of development plans and providing the country with more achievements.”

He pointed out that hosting the Egyptian Super Cup represents a real success for the plans and vision of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and its great and continuous interest in hosting the most prominent international sporting events, and enhancing the interaction of the UAE community with these important events.

The Abu Dhabi Sports Council signed an agreement yesterday evening with the United Media Services Company and Presentation Sports, to hold the two Egyptian Super Cup matches between the two teams that won the League Shield and the Egypt Cup for the last season 2020-2021, and the current season 2021-2022 in the UAE, within the framework of fruitful cooperation between the two sides. And the close links between the Emirates and Egypt, as part of the agenda of international sporting events in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
