DUBAI, 25th August, WAM / The eighth Emirati Women’s Forum, organized by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, held a session entitled “Emirati Women.. A Unique Model” at the authority’s Academy building, with the participation of a number of pioneering Emirati female engineers at the state level.
The session was moderated by Fatima Muhammad Al Joker, Chairperson of the Women’s Committee at FANR, with the participation of Eng. Amani Al Hosani – the first Emirati nuclear scientist, from the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation; And Eng. Hessa Ali – Control System Engineer for the “Hope Probe”, from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center, and Hana Al Muhairi, Assistant Director of Partnerships at the Museum of the Future.
In an interview with the Emirates News Agency, WAM, Engineer Hessa Ali, the leader of the control and data processing systems in the Emirates Mars Exploration Project, “Hope Probe” at the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center, said that dedicating a day for Emirati women gives her a sense of pride because the state empowers women in all fields. This means that the wise leadership has confidence in Emirati women and their ability to assume responsibility in all areas, and this gives us an impetus for creativity without any restrictions, to return this favor to them and to bear on our shoulders the responsibility to achieve in all areas.
And about her experience in the field of space, she confirmed that the space sector has many challenges, and Emirati women have proven their success and worth at all levels during the previous years. The field of space was a dream and vision fifty years ago, and today we have accomplished major projects in the field of space and women have made achievements in the field of space in all projects. Such as the Hope Probe project and the Mars project, which is a national and international project that includes approximately 40% to 50%, a female cadre with different specializations, such as administrators and engineers in several fields, including female engineers in the design of the moon and scientific engineers called “scientists” and the science team, all of which are from Girls and there is only one man.
“We are proud of Noura Al Matroushi being chosen among the two astronauts, and after fifty years we will complete our achievements and have a greater role in developing the space field so that the UAE will be a pioneer in this field,” she said.
She added that the greatest message that was conveyed to the world is that the UAE has leadership in supporting women’s work in all fields and disciplines, even to be a pioneer in a difficult field such as space. “.
She said, “In our field of work, we have many international companies, and we must be in contact with all countries of the world. This is an opportunity to tell the world that the UAE is a leadership and government that is constantly keen to support the role of women in all fields.”
For her part, Engineer Amani Al Hosani, Director of Operation of Nuclear Reactors at the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, said, “I feel proud and lofty, when Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation “Mother of the Nation”, announced in 2015. Emirati women in an initiative that was the fruit of planted by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul”, since the founding of the Emirates, and as a thank you for the efforts of the daughter of the Emirates in serving her country, and her achievements have gone beyond the local to the global.
She stressed that the field of nuclear energy is distinguished, so we are proud of the fact that the percentage of women cadres at the “Barakah” plant has reached 20%, and it is considered one of the largest percentages in the world due to this difficult specialization.
She added that women in the UAE during the past fifty years have had a great imprint in the history of the state and since the establishment of the Federation began to invest in Emirati women by giving priority to their education and development, as this leadership always makes us feel proud and bears the responsibility of achievement in all fields.
She referred to her personal experience in nuclear energy, which began 10 years ago, as she was a student in the first class in nuclear engineering, and we received an invitation to visit the Barakah plant to choose them “Baraka” to build a reactor in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State “may God protect him” and the President of South Korea. I am proud of this visit because I am the only girl among the visiting engineers, and we felt proud and excited, and now, after 10 years, the difficult and impossible dream has come true in the world. Two nuclear power stations have been commissioned in Barakah, and we are waiting for the operation of the other two plants very soon.
For her part, Hana Al Muhairi, Assistant Director of Partnerships at the Museum of the Future, said, “It makes us proud that our wise leadership trusted us and surrounded us with attention through its vision that Emirati women can reach the highest fields and the best sites, not only locally but also globally, and the Museum of the Future is the greatest example of that because it looks forward to the future.” It finds solutions to global problems, not only at the state level, so the entry of Emirati women into a new field, such as looking ahead, confirms the ability of Emirati women to put the UAE in the ranks of advanced and pioneering countries.”
She added, “The UAE’s strategy for anticipating the future has set a clear plan for how to portray the future of the current generation of Emirati youth, focusing on three main axes, the first is “the government’s work mechanism”, the second is “capacity building” and the third is “the future destination.”
She explained that in the first axis, which talks about the government’s mechanism of action, we see that women have proven themselves and assumed leadership positions and occupy more than 50% of positions in government departments at the level of the region and the world.. and in the axis of “capacity building”, the Dubai Museum for the Future is keen to provide programs that support Studying in all disciplines and supporting talents and embracing them because it sets a vision for the future for the next fifty years, including the role of men and women in the Emirates..
As for the third axis, “Future Destination”, the museum’s role is to find many solutions and technology in the future that will help humanity and humanity as a whole.
She stated that the Museum of the Future began at the World Summit of Governments, and we were presenting with the help of everyone the problems and challenges facing the world, and from here the idea of the Museum of the Future came out, which was a message to the world to get it out of its fears of problems and diseases and to reassure it that the future will be better for everyone, with its bright and beautiful opportunities, and this is what we have achieved Indeed, in cooperation and partnership with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and in partnership with other governmental institutions and with leading institutions around the world, we were putting forward the challenges, problems and solutions facing the world.
She said, “Through our partnership with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, we raised the problems of issuing clean, renewable energy, and how with these solutions we can help the world. We also raised these challenges with nine partners we have in the museum. The floors were designed as if you were on the 2071 floor, and it will be launched into space and you will see the satellites that will be built in The moon, how nature is rehabilitated, and how technology is used to help us in psychological matters, so the mission of the Museum of the Future is to present the challenges and how to anticipate a better future using the latest technology.
On her part, Fatima Al Joker, Chairperson of the Women’s Committee at DEWA, said, “DEWA has a diverse and distinguished cadre of 1,950 female employees, and we are proud that 83% of the number of female employees are Emirati women working in various technical and engineering sectors.”
“The authority has approximately 700 Emirati female engineers in various fields such as renewable energy, sustainable energy and other fields,” she added.
She pointed out that the authority today is a pioneer in empowering and investing in human capabilities. Therefore, we have approximately 300 female employees working in the supervisory field, and this is one of the high numbers and ratios in the institutions. There are 8 women of determination working in the authority. To work in various fields.
She added, “My message to Emirati women on their day is that in the UAE, every day is a woman’s day, and every day is a celebration and celebration of the efforts of Emirati women from five decades ago until today.”
