Zurich, November 18, WAM/ The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) announced today the selection of Italian referee Daniele Orsato to officiate the opening match of the 2022 World Cup, which is scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, between the Qatari and Ecuadorian national teams.
FIFA indicated on its website today that Orsato, 46, is one of the most experienced football referees in Europe, as he has been involved in managing matches since 2010.
Orsato was involved in managing the 2018 World Cup matches in Russia as an assistant video referee.
