DUBAI, 19th September, 2022 (WAM) — The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) today announced its support for the development of the Metaverse which will simulate the UAE’s manned mission to Mars in 2117.
This first-of-its-kind project will be led by BEDU, the leading pioneer of Web3 technologies and solutions in Dubai.
Formalized by a memorandum of understanding, the 2117 Metaverse project will involve close collaboration between the MBRSC and the BEDU. Through a series of workshops and strategic sessions, BEDU will contribute its expertise in the development of the 2117 Metaverse, which will include exciting virtual experiences that capture the sensations of being in space and stepping on the red planet, and which raise awareness of the challenges of exploration and colonization.
Commenting on this collaboration and announcement, Adnan Al Rais, Mars 2117 Program Manager at MBRSC, said, “As we look to ever harder destinations to explore with humans and robots, the innovative ideas and thinking about future will be essential in helping us reach new milestones. Concepts like this will be supported by the MBRSC, as we believe they will help us expand our scope of possibilities.”
The MBRSC will work closely with BEDU experts to guide and influence its development. This will include providing advice, sharing data and information on space and Mars, as well as forming a steering committee to monitor the progress of the partnership. The two organizations will also collaborate on the ideation, creative development, and visualization of elements of the 2117 metaverse.
As experts in the Metaverse space, BEDU will provide MBRSC with consulting and advisory services in areas such as Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT), Web3 and the Metaverse.
