Emotion and diabetes – Hossam Mowafi explains the relationship between them

Dr. Hossam Mawafi, Professor of Critical Cases at the Kasr Al-Aini Medical School, confirmed that agitation is one of the things that detect diabetes in people who do not suffer from common symptoms, such as frequent urination and constant thirst.

Mowafi said during his program “Rabbi Zadni Alma”, which is broadcast on Sada Al-Balad channel, that the emotion negatively affects the levels of sugar in the blood, as it leads to a sharp rise.

The professor of critical care medicine added that the excitement causes the secretion of a group of hormones, which in turn leads to high blood sugar, if the person suffers from a decrease in the production of insulin responsible for controlling it.

He explained that cortisone is one of the hormones that are secreted in the body when excited, adding that some doctors inject their patients with it, and then they check their blood sugar, and if it is high, this is an indication that they have diabetes.
