This rise took off even more at the beginning of October. The average for a 15 kg bag of pellets is now €11.43. At this rate, the average price of a bag should have passed the €12 mark at the end of the month.
Beyond this increase, what is even more worrying is its speed. The average price of a bag of pellets in Wallonia has increased by 19%. Never seen.
Will the federal premium keep pellets at a high price?
These prices are particularly hard to swallow for consumers, many of whom have switched to pellet stoves for heating since the covid crisis. It could also harm the whole sector. The expected (expected) premium, however, risks artificially keeping prices even higher, as an expert told us.
