Morel’s skin manifestations began when he was 12 years old. In 2020, when she was 16, the flare-ups got worse and became more regular. “I was at school and out of the blue my lip swelled up. The school nurse thought I was allergic to ibuprofen even though I hadn’t taken any.” The teenager was taken to the hospital, where doctors confirmed it was not an allergic reaction. The swelling and bruise on her lip persisted for a few days.

Painted over stains for years

The looks and comments from others have severely damaged her self-esteem. Because of this, the girl from 13 to 16 years bothered to cover up the spots with makeup. She doesn’t do that anymore. Reporting about her condition made her “so much more confident”. “I don’t feel like I have to hide it anymore, it’s a part of me and I’m proud of how far I’ve come to accept it.”

Nancy has spent the last five years visiting hospitals, having skin biopsies and getting treatments – but to no avail. Now she frequently shares Instagram videos showing her face before and after a strong boost.

Not everyone understands

Her story has provoked both positive and negative reactions from viewers. One doctor even suggested to her that she was just inventing the whole thing. In a recent YouTube video, Nancy talks about her battle with this skin condition and how it’s affecting her life.

Friends and family support the young Briton: «I have a great support network of friends and people close to me, but mainly my family. I am the youngest of eight children – my siblings and parents have always been my best support.”
