A heat wave is currently affecting our country, a first for the month of September. We expect more than 30°C again this Saturday. Many Belgians will therefore go to get some fresh air at the sea. The SNCB has also strengthened its train offering for the weekend.
Several thousand people are expected at the coast this weekend. And at 1 p.m., there were already many tourists in Ostend enjoying the terrace, walking on the dike or even swimming for the bravest.
This high influx obviously delights local businesses since hotels display, for example, an occupancy rate of 90% for the night from Saturday to Sunday.
Be careful, however, to swim in supervised areas. These areas are fewer in number at the moment because the summer period is over. You may remember that last year, accidents occurred in unsupervised areas.
SNCB has strengthened its train offering. Be careful, however, for motorists who plan to hit the road again this evening: the E40 motorway will be closed from 9 p.m., until this Sunday morning, between Aalter and Saint-Denis-Westrem.
