Four out of five people in Germany feel very safe or fairly safe when walking in traffic. This was the result of a representative Forsa survey commissioned by the German Road Safety Council (DVR). However, more than half of those surveyed consider crossing the lane without crossing aids (58 percent) and crossings and junctions without traffic lights (55 percent) to be dangerous.

Crosswalks and intersections and junctions with traffic lights are most likely to be perceived as dangerous places by respondents from large cities. And potential for conflict is always inevitable when road users have to share space: 53 percent of pedestrians feel disturbed by cyclists and 44 percent by e-scooter drivers. In the big cities, e-scooters are the biggest problem for pedestrians (53 percent).

There are also clear differences depending on the age of the respondents: while those over 45 feel their safety as pedestrians is most affected by cyclists (60 percent), those under 30 years of age see their safety most as a result of driving a car (59 percent). percent) and truck drivers (60 percent) threatened.
