Industrial production recovered positively in most industries, fields and localities; in which, the processing and manufacturing industry continued to be the main growth driver with an increase of 8.1%.

Import and export continued to develop, setting a new record with a total turnover of more than 732.5 billion USD, an increase of nearly 10% compared to the previous year; maintained a trade surplus for the 7th year in a row with a surplus of USD 11.2 billion (3.3 times higher than the previous year), making a positive contribution to the balance of payments, stabilizing exchange rates and economic indicators. other macro.

The domestic market recovered strongly with high growth. Total retail sales of goods and services increased by nearly 20%, exceeding 2.5 times the planned target, basically meeting essential goods to serve people and businesses.

E-commerce has grown strongly, contributing to the development of supply chains and circulation of goods at home and abroad, bringing our country into the group of 5 countries with the world’s leading e-commerce growth rate.

Entering 2023, right after the Government issued Resolution 01/NQ-CP dated January 6, 2023 on the main tasks and solutions to implement the socio-economic development plan, the state budget estimate and improve the business environment, improve national competitiveness in 2023, the industry and trade sector has an action plan to implement the Resolution.

In the immediate future, the industry and trade sector will focus on well implementing 3 groups of tasks assigned in Directive No. 03/CT-TTg dated January 27, 2023 of the Prime Minister on key tasks after the Lunar New Year holiday. “The industry and trade sector must coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to diversify markets; product diversification; diversify the supply chain,” emphasized the Prime Minister.

The head of the Government directs the industry and trade sector to step up administrative reform; promote infrastructure construction, institutional building; focus on three growth drivers: consumption, investment and export; promote digital transformation, develop green economy, circular economy, fight climate change.

In particular, the Ministry of Industry and Trade urgently completed four assigned master plans including electricity, energy, minerals and oil and gas infrastructure.

The Prime Minister directed to boost domestic purchasing power, implement trade promotion programs in the domestic market, promote distribution of goods through digital platforms, e-commerce to expand domestic consumption, developing Vietnamese brands; focus on investing in modernizing the distribution system in rural and mountainous areas to promote bringing Vietnamese goods to the countryside; closely combine traditional trade with modern ones, effectively exploiting the domestic market; at the same time closely monitor developments in supply and demand, prices and markets of essential commodities to operate appropriately and effectively, ensuring the supply of electricity and petrol for the market in all situations.
