On account of the pre-agreement that was signed this Tuesday between the Prosecutor’s Office and Enrique Vives Caballero, the businessman will pay 7.6 years in prison after running over 7 people, 6 of whom died.

The events were recorded on September 13 and it was confirmed that Vives was driving his truck in a state of intoxication in the leaks of Santa Marta.

This pre-agreement, which even allowed Vives ensure the payment of the sentence under the figure of house arrest, It also includes the commitment not to drive any vehicle again after drinking intoxicating beverages.

In addition, according to information from local media, on Tuesday night he was immediately transferred to his home, located in the exclusive Pozos Colorados sector. All of this, in white silver, translates to the criminal process is closed and it is not required to go to the trial stage.

To this must be added that the Vives car insurer has already managed to pay compensation to the families of 5 of the 6 fatalities, and is in negotiations with the relatives of the latter. In fact, she is undergoing a similar process with the representatives of the person who survived, a minor under 14 years of age.

Last September, the defense of Vives offered compensation of 4,000 million pesos to the families of the victims, which would be paid through the car’s all-risk insurance.

This, according to information released at the time, was done in exchange for dropping the charges against the businessman.

One of the most controversial elements of this judicial file, which caused a stir throughout the country, is that the defense of the businessman managed to endorse the thesis that he was not tested for alcohol through Legal Medicine – legally known as clinical-forensic medicine – at the time of the accident.

What he said is that yes, he was given a test that showed degree 3 of drunkenness at that time, but not through the regular conduit that would be the aforementioned entity. And, on the contrary, the fatal victims were later examined, finding that they had been drinking while walking along the side of the road when the accident occurred.

This means that what began as a controversial court case of a possible drunk driving, legally led to a tragic accident.
