Éric Duhaime sued in small claims | Elections Quebec 2022

According to documents consulted by Radio-Canada, the work was carried out between October 18, 2018 and January 31, 2019 in a building on avenue de Bougainville, in the Montcalm sector, in Quebec. Radio-Canada was able to confirm that Mr. Duhaime no longer owns the building, which he has since sold.

The invoice submitted to Mr. Duhaime by Plomberie-Pro Québec totaled approximately $5,600 and was to be paid on February 28, 2019.

Faced with Éric Duhaime’s refusal to pay the amount due, the vice-president of Plomberie-Pro Québec, Martin Garon, sent him a formal notice a year later, in March 2020.

The work took place in a building in the Montcalm district.

The contractor then clearly warns the chief curator that a refusal to pay will lead to legal proceedings.

If you fail to comply with this, we will take the necessary legal proceedings against you to recover what is owed to us, without further notice.he warns.

In Small Claims Court

The case was obviously not settled in the fall of 2020, since the company turned to the Small Claims Division of the Court of Quebec in order to be compensated.

In a document dated October 20, 2020, Martin Garon claims nearly $ 8,000 from Éric Duhaime, the total related to the work and the interest accrued over the period. He claims not to have received no partial payment in the file.

According to the plaintiff, Éric Duhaime refused to pay his bills because of water damage occurred in a dwelling.

However, the contractor disclaims all liability by stating that its employees did not finish.

Amicable agreement

Radio-Canada was able to reach Mr. Garon on Tuesday morning for an explanation.

He confirms that an amicable agreement was negotiated between the parties some time after the registration of the case before the Court.

You know, in my field, it’s not always easy to get paid. The contractor also specifies that he has accepted a new contract in a building belonging to Éric Duhaime about a year ago. Everything went as planned.

When asked why the proceedings had not been officially interrupted at the Small Claims Division, Martin Garon affirms that he simply forgot to notify the Court.

You know I don’t do this stuff every dayhe pleads.

Duhaime explains

Made aware of the revelations from Radio-Canada, Éric Duhaime chose to react through his press officer, Cédric Lapointe.

Mr. Duhaime hired this contractor 4 years ago. Work has been done. Part of the work was correct, another in disputehe explains.

The leader of the Parti Québécois (PQ) was annoyed on Tuesday when journalists asked him to comment on the lawsuit in Small Claims Court against Éric Duhaime.

I will not comment on the Hydro bills, the rents and the lawsuits in court for Éric Duhaime’s plumbing. I am here to talk about the financial future of Quebeclaunched Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, brandishing the financial framework that his party has just unveiled.

For his part, the co-spokesperson for Québec solidaire Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois condemns the conduct of the Conservative leader.

When I saw this news in the media this afternoon, I said to myself: “so, is it going to stop at some point?”he wondered.

It’s not strong. Run to be Premier of Quebec and then there are all these revelations. I find it very ordinaryhe continued.

The story repeats itself

Over the past few days, the Conservative leader has had to defend himself for having narrowly avoided the seizure of two of his buildings in Quebec an unpaid municipal tax bill.

According to a decision-making summary adopted by Quebec City’s executive committee earlier this month, the former radio host had racked up about $14,000 in unpaid bills.

Mr. Duhaime claims to have remedied the situation.

Yesterday he also admitted paid school taxesin delay.

The Center de services scolaire de la Capitale obtained a judgment against the politician on June 8, 2021.

It was only after being visited by a bailiff that Mr. Duhaime was forced to pay the total sum of $2,519.45 to put an end to the steps taken against him.
