Brussels – The EU Commission has initiated infringement proceedings against Hungary over the release of hundreds of imprisoned people smugglers. After the delivery of a corresponding letter on Friday, Budapest has two months to dispel the concerns of the Brussels authority. She sees the procedure as “neither effective nor deterrent”. The circumstances of the individual cases were also not taken into account. The procedure could lead to fines for Hungary.
