EuroMillions: the historic jackpot of 230 million won in the United Kingdom

It is a colossal sum! 230 million euros, the biggest prize pool ever in the EuroMillions, has just been pocketed by a resident of the United Kingdom – one of the nine countries, including France, to participate in the game. We do not yet know precisely the country where the correct numbers have been ticked: the Française des jeux has not yet leaked any details on the profile of the winner. What is certain is that the winner ticked the numbers 6, 23, 27, 40, 41 and the stars 2 and 12 to win the grail.

This is the fourth time in a few days that the hoard has been put into play, having not been won on Friday July 8, Tuesday 12, then Friday 15. There was only one last chance left to win, before that the organizing company does not proceed to a draw for the lower rank (Editor’s note: by removing a number at each new stake), thus reducing the amount of sums to be won.

The number makes you dream: it is the equivalent Brazilian soccer player Neymar – in any case its value when it was bought by PSG in 2017 – plus 10 million euros, or two Airbus A320s and enough to fuel them for days, or 30 tons of Beluga Imperial caviar, the most expensive in the world, or 230 million baguettes. But not enough to afford the most luxurious yacht in the world, the Azzam, owned by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Emir of Abu Dhabi. Its value is estimated between 460 and 600 million euros!

The last record jackpot was 220 million euros and was won by a Tahitian last October. Unusual detail: it was… the first time she played! For this great first, she had decided to leave things to chance by choosing her numbers via the “flash” system, which dials in place of the player. Note that for the big winners, la Française des jeux regularly organizes financial management workshopspiloted by an independent consultant who gives happy new millionaires the “keys” to manage this sudden fortune – understanding of financial products, jargon, different service providers…
