European elections, Renzi-Pizzarotti clash over the United States of Europe –

It is a clash between Matteo Renzi and Federico Pizzarotti. At the center of the debate is the creation of the United States of Europe list in view of the European elections on 8 and 9 June. «With Emma Bonino we share the overcoming of the right of veto, the institutional reform of the Union, a more incisive diplomatic and military strategy. And we get together to elect six/seven pro-European parliamentarians, taking away the seats from sovereignists and populists”, hopes the leader of Italia Viva. Renzi then enters straight into the debate within +Europa, with reference to the statute, between the president and the founder of the party: «The idea that a project called the United States of Europe could fail due to the veto of a certain Pizzarotti from Parma It seems lunar to me. We make this choice to take away the right of veto from Orban, not to give it to a former Grillino member of the Five Star Movement when Beppe Grillo asked to leave the euro.” The reply from the former mayor of Parma is ready: «Let’s try to respect each other by avoiding media bullying. How +Europa will participate in the European elections will be decided by the party bodies according to the rules we have given ourselves, not on the basis of your interviews.”

Pizzarotti, then, adds: «I have never been anti-euro. Both you and I have been part of parties whose line we did not agree with and from which we left. Signed: this Pizzarotti from Parma.” Meanwhile, the leader of Action, Carlo Calenda, who is focusing a lot on the European elections, defined in the last few hours as “the battle of life”, regarding the words of the dem Graziano Delrio on the possible candidacy of the journalist Marco Tarquinio, warns: “If you run people in the European Parliament who would not vote for sending weapons to Ukraine means that that is the position you want to take. As far as Action is concerned, support for Ukraine will be a precondition for candidacy. On the most important dossier for the EU the ‘but for us too is not acceptable’. And not only. There is also room for a back-and-forth between Maria Elena Boschi and the Northern League member Claudio Borghi. The IV deputy remarks: «As Emma Bonino said, this is a purposeful list for the European elections. And this is right because whoever votes for us takes seats away from the sovereignists, from Meloni, Salvini and Conte.” The Northern League senator’s reply on X cannot be waited for. Who comments ironically: “Well yes of course… a sovereignist can’t wait to vote for ‘United States of Europe with Boninò’.” Boschi hopes, however, for an important role for the radical leader after the vote on 8 and 9 June: «The Italian delegation of Renew Europe will become the second most important after the French.
