European stocks closed higher, supported by gains in the mining and retail sectors

European stocks rose at the end of trading on Wednesday, November 23, supported by gains in the mining and retail sectors.

Investors are awaiting the release of the US Federal Reserve’s meeting minutes, looking for clues about the direction of monetary policy.

At the close of trading, the Stoxx600 index rose by 0.60% to 438 points.

The German DAX index settled at 14427 points, the French CAC index rose by 0.32% to 6679 points, and the British FTSE index rose by 0.17% to 7465 points.

Travel and leisure stocks rose 1.9%, retail and mining stocks rose about 1.8%, and technology stocks rose 1.4%.

This comes amid European investors analyzing Wednesday’s data on the Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) from the Eurozone, which reaffirmed the region’s entry into recession, but showed a slight slowdown in business.
