A study carried out by the European Observatory for Drugs and Drug Addiction measures traces of cocaine in wastewater in 2023 in Europe. A ranking of 88 European cities has therefore been established.
In the top 6 where traces of cocaine are the most numerous in wastewater are two Belgian cities: Antwerp, at the top of the ranking and Brussels in sixth position. In second place is Amsterdam, followed by Zurich, Barcelona and Paris.
Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain are the countries where the most traces of cocaine are found in wastewater. An increase in the concentration of this substance has also been observed in eastern countries.
Furthermore, the highest charges are found in Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Finland.
