MOHAMED Salah will stay on to serve out the final year of his contract with Liverpool next season. This was revealed by British mass media reports, Monday (29/4).

Sky Sport and The Athletic report that the 31-year-old striker does not want to leave Anfield and Liverpool also have no plans to sell the Egyptian national team player.

Salah was involved in an open dispute with Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp on the sidelines when he was about to come on as a substitute when the Reds drew 2-2 with West Ham United, Saturday (27/4).

Speaking after the match, Salah said: “There would be a fire if I revealed what happened.”

Liverpool rejected offers from Saudi Arabian clubs at the start of this season, including a £150 million bid from Al Ittihad for Salah.

Klopp’s departure from Liverpool at the end of the season sparked speculation about the future of a number of senior Reds players.

Salah has scored 24 goals this season, but his performance has declined since he suffered an injury while playing for the Egyptian national team at the Africa Cup of Nations last January.

Salah’s contract at Liverpool only has 12 months remaining on the 3-year contract worth 18 million pounds sterling per year which he signed in 2022. (AFP/Z-1)
