Everything you need to know about “Secret Invasion”

The Marvel Universe miniseries, with Nick Fury battling the Skrulls, reveals a bit more of its paranoia-prone universe.

From September 9 to 11, Disney’s D23 convention was held, bringing together all the entertainment giant’s upcoming activities and announcements. Among the most awaited information, the first official trailer (and not teaser) of the mini series Secret Wars, adapted from the famous 2008 comics. Samuel L. Jackson and his character Nick Fury reunites with his SHIELD partner, Maria Hill (still played by Coby Smulders), after long years of exile. His appearance already revealed ahead of New York Comic-Con is confirmed: he is not in the best shape of his life.

Borgne to fight

If Fury has decided to come out of retirement (of which we don’t know the reasons or why he seems to be coming back in such a sorry state), it’s to fight against a terrible invasion: that of the extraterrestrials called Skrulls. Their ability to take on human form allows them to infiltrate the highest levels of any human administration, be it military, top secret, etc. During the trailer, Fury challenges Colonel James Rodes, alias War Machine (Don Cheadle), on this threat of which he seems to ignore everything. In addition to a reunion with a few familiar faces, this first official trailer is also an opportunity to see new recruits in the MCU cast in action.

Par ordre des Skrulls

Kingsley Ben-Adir (The OA, Peaky Blinders) will play a major role in the Skrull camp, as confirmed by a cloning scene as impressive as it is frightening on the measure of extraterrestrial powers. Emilia Clarke (Game Of Thrones, Solo: A Star Wars Story), weapon in hand, also alert to the weight of the threat weighing on the Earth, when she could well be in the enemy camp. It should also be noted that there is the presence of agents from the DODC (Department Of Damage Control), a recurring organization in the MCU whose involvement in the invasion is not yet known. Planned as a true cross-over of the Marvel Universes, detailing Nick Fury’s past, the miniseries Secret Invasion will launch its six episodes in early 2023 on Disney+.
