A video where the former Minister of Economy and main economic reference of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, Hernán Lacunza, explains to a group of executives why they receive State subsidies even if they do not believe it, has gone viral in the last hours on social networks.
The fragment was part of his participation in the 44th Annual Convention of the Argentine Institute of Finance Executives (IAEF), where Lacunza referred to the amount of subsidies faced by the State.
At one point in his talk, he challenged those present: “Raise your hand who does not receive subsidies.”
Then he asked one of them to tell him where he lives.
“Where you live? South Zone? And why don’t you receive subsidies? Your energy is subsidized. You pay for electricity, I don’t know how much… 5 thousand, 6 thousand, 4 thousand? You are subsidized,” he said.
“Did anyone come by airlines to the meeting? Lower your hand, you are subsidized. Did someone come by car and load at YPF? It is subsidized. Does anyone have a family member who entered into a pension moratorium? He is subsidized, ”he continued.
“In this room of 1,000 people, where – because of how we are dressed, where we are – we are in the top 10% of income and the most educated. The entire room is subsidized. This is a moral question, that if you want… now, it is unfeasible. No country is going to function by subsidizing its entire population, in any aspect. And neither in energy, ”he concluded.
