Ex-contractor Deicy Jiménez alleges misconduct by Petro

Deicy Jiménez, a 26-year-old former state contractor, has published an intimate video on social media featuring herself and former Colombian president Gustavo Petro, presenting the footage as proof of her allegations that public service contracts were exchanged for sexual favors during his administration.

The unfolding legal and political fallout centers on a series of disclosures reported by El Tiempo, alongside investigations by Noticias Caracol, NTN24, and El País.

Gustavo Petro ordered official to keep person on contract

Investigative reporting from Noticias Caracol brought to light a digital chat from December 2025 between Gustavo Petro and Angie Rodríguez, who served at the time as the director of the Administrative Department of the Presidency, known as the Dapre. According to the records, Rodríguez messaged the then-president to mention a congressional decoration and her admission to a doctoral program at Universidad Externado. Over two hours later, Petro replied by sending a PDF file bearing Jiménez’s name alongside the instruction: “This person needs to be kept there in the MinInterior contract.” Rodríguez responded, “Perfect, Mr. President.”

At the time of that communication, Jiménez held an active contract with the Ministry of Interior valued at 11 million pesos, which had been signed in August 2025 and was slated to conclude on December 31 of that year. Records indicate that instruction materialized with the signing of a subsequent contract on January 23, 2026, valued at 30 million pesos.

El País reported that Carlos Ríos, head of the Department Administrative of the Presidency, noted before the legislative body that 48 women held contracts within the presidency during Petro’s tenure under service provision orders. Jiménez previously stated in an interview with Revista Semana that between 30 and 40 women experienced similar circumstances.

Lawyers face safety fears as Supreme Court advances inquiries

The progression of the case has coincided with changes in legal representation and escalating security concerns. Andrés Felipe Caballero, the penal attorney initially representing Jiménez, submitted an irrevocable resignation citing severe personal safety concerns. Dina Luz Malo subsequently assumed legal representation, noting that individuals had photographed Jiménez outside her residence and confirming that the newly published video material would be formally submitted to judicial authorities.

The Supreme Court of Justice has advanced parallel inquiries through its Special Instruction Chamber, which previously heard testimony directly from Jiménez. In connection with those judicial steps, the court scheduled an official inspection of the Senate Secretariat for November 18 to review employment records and contracts associated with Jiménez.

Former presidential candidate Paloma Valencia published a statement via social media condemning the alleged practices as an abuse of public office and state funds, calling for transparent and immediate judicial accountability. Former congresswoman María José Pizarro also issued a public statement clarifying that she knew Jiménez during the latter’s tenure as a contractor for the Senate Vice Presidency between 2023 and 2024. Pizarro denied any involvement in conditioning public contracts and stated she requested her defense counsel to petition the Supreme Court’s Instruction Chamber to provide testimony.

The Response from the Former President

Gustavo Petro has consistently rejected allegations that public contracts were utilized to secure intimate relations. In statements distributed via his official channels, the former president maintained that no corruption occurred and that none of his administrative decisions involved trading state employment for personal favors. Regarding the circulating video material, El País reported that Petro asserted that no expert witness or judge had yet examined the images to establish their provenance or exact timeline, reiterating that he would abide by the confidentiality orders issued by the presiding magistrate and present his defense exclusively before judicial authorities rather than through public media platforms.
