Ex-Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah Denies Extortion Allegations in Court

Former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah stepped before the Jakarta Corruption Court on November 2, 2026, to dismantle a prosecution narrative he argues is built on fiction and criminalization. Accused alongside two others of extortion and money laundering totaling hundreds of billions of rupiah, Febrie flatly rejected claims that he shook down property tycoon Tan Kian for 5 juta dolar Singapura—roughly Rp 55 miliar—through an intermediary named Ferry Yanto Hongkiriwang, also known as Ferry Boboho, detikNews reported.

Denying the Shakedown and the Phrase ‘Dinginkan’

During the intense Monday proceedings, Febrie took direct aim at the testimony provided by Ferry Boboho. According to charges brought by prosecutors, Febrie allegedly leaned on Tan Kian during the investigation of the sprawling PT Asuransi Jiwasraya corruption case, warning the businessman that he faced imminent designation as a suspect unless a payoff was arranged. Febrie dismissed the allegation as entirely fabricated, noting that in his 30-year career at the Attorney General’s Office, he had never faced a single accusation of extortion.

The former high-ranking prosecutor expressed particular bewilderment over specific terminology attributed to him by the witness. Prosecutors claimed Febrie instructed Ferry to tell Tan Kian to “dinginkan” (cool down) his situation regarding the Jiwasraya probe. Febrie testified that the word itself is completely foreign to his vocabulary and has never appeared in his lexicon since he first became a prosecutor.

Febrie told the panel presided over by Chief Akhmad Fijiarsyah Joko Sutrisno that there were words that clearly disrupted him, which he heard as foreign and which had never existed in his dictionary since he became a first-time prosecutor, namely the word “dinginkan,” and that he was foreign to that word, as reported by detikNews.

Unraveling the Financial Allegations and Asset Seizures

The sprawling indictment outlines a massive money laundering scheme spanning from 2019 to 2026, with prosecutors alleging Febrie amassed illicit funds amounting to Rp 346,743,821,282 and 440,990 US dollars through proxies including Don Ritto and Nurman Herin. These funds were allegedly funneled through corporate acquisitions, shares, and real estate, including properties tied to PT Cahaya Baja Sukses and PT Oktasan Baruna Persada, as detailed by Kompas. Yet, during the court session, co-defendant Nurman Herin likewise pushed back against the witness accounts, denying he ever accepted a backpack stuffed with cash from Ferry Boboho or that a specific jacket prosecutors highlighted was part of any illicit transaction.

Febrie argued that if there were any valuable assets central to the investigation, they were the legitimate targets of state seizures rather than payoffs. He pointed to hundreds of apartments at South Hills and extensive land parcels legally seized from Tan Kian during his tenure as Director of Investigations and later as Jampidsus. Febrie maintained that his actual instructions to associates and friends during high-profile probes—such as the massive corruption cases involving Harvey Moeis—were consistently strict: “Jangan urus perkara.”

Courtroom Drama and Legal Protections Under Scrutiny

The trial’s atmosphere grew tense as legal teams clashed over procedural safeguards and courtroom observers. Ferry Boboho is currently receiving protection from the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) due to the perceived threats and serious nature of the proceedings, a designation that Febrie’s legal team has openly challenged, according to Kumparan reporting. Meanwhile, CNN Indonesia noted that drama unfolded inside the courtroom when the presiding judge ordered security to remove two suspected informants who were allegedly passing live testimonies to another key witness, Lustje Dewi Kusuma alias Lucy Kweek, waiting to testify in subsequent sessions.

Prosecutors Prepare 103 Witnesses to Uncover Corruption Case of Ex-Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah | …

As the trial proceeds through a massive evidentiary phase featuring a projected list of 103 witnesses, the core of the defense rests on establishing that institutional anti-corruption drives are being distorted into personal retaliations. Febrie urged the judges to examine the evidentiary trail with absolute clarity, asserting that his leadership in uncovering monumental state losses—including the tin corruption case and the Jiwasraya scandal—proved his commitment to an unblemished prosecutorial record.
