The lineup of artists for the Viña del Mar Festival 2024 was announced last Monday, October 9.
Among the figures confirmed for the next Viñamarino contest are Los Bunkers, Alejandro Sanz, Mora, Maná, Manuel Turizo, Men at Work, María Becerra and Young Cister. Miranda, Anitta and Peso Pluma close the list.
But, in addition, the mayor of Viña del Mar, Macarena Ripamonti, indicated that there is an international artist who is still pending. In this scenario, Carlos Tejos, who has covered the event since 1987, gave a critical look at this festival lineup, in conversation with Page 7.
“The first thing I can say is that Viña does not learn, and he is responsible because he insists once again on urban music, knowing that the audience that watches the event is perhaps not the youthful audience that loves this type of rhythms,” He began his analysis.
“I must admit that now the grid is somewhat more transversal, which I criticized last year, which focused absolutely on youthful faces,” he added.
“It has Alejando Sanz, Maná, Los Bunkers, Miranda, but none of them represent a big surprise,” the journalist warned.
In this sense, the entertainment reporter warned that “if Viña does not change, if it does not have a more attractive grill, the festival is condemned to die in people’s predilection.”
According to the communicator’s view, they would not be paying attention to what the public is requesting: “Mayor Ripamonti says that the last number will be chosen by the people, but I tell her ‘Mayor, I understand that you should involve the people, but it’s just a detail.’”
“I would like her to listen to what people ask for and, above all, to take care of the genesis of the festival, which is the song competition, where she continues to be in charge,” he emphasized.
Regarding the ways to enhance this pending debt, Tejos assured that “there are two important channels, which should create programs in which national creation is promoted and there is a selection of topics.”
“I understand that the festival is still something commercial that provides returns to those who invest, but people want music, they want to see Chilean artists,” he stated, in a clear message to the organization of the event.
It should be remembered that the next edition of the Viña del Mar Festival will take place from February 25 to March 1, 2024, in a joint broadcast by TVN and Channel 13.
