The Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Invitational Race was held at Tsim Sha Tsui East Waterfront for two consecutive days on Saturday and yesterday. Among them, the International Open Gold Cup, the International Championship, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Championship, the Hong Kong Championship and the Hong Kong-Macau Cup all have prize money, among which the prize money for the champion team is as high as US$10,000; more than 160 teams from 10 countries and regions have come to Hong Kong to participate, including the first-time Participating teams from Poland, Australia, Japan and other places have nearly 4,000 dragon boat athletes. Among them, the Fuzhou Changle Huiquan Dragon Boat Team won the International Open Gold Cup, and the Thai team won the Hong Kong-Macau Cup. Chief Executive Lee Ka-chao and Chairman of the Tourism Board Peng Yaojia attended the awards for the two cups. Some citizens who went to watch the game expressed the hope that Hong Kong will host more international sports events, which will make Hong Kong more dynamic and attract more foreign tourists to visit Hong Kong.

The athletes of each team tried their best to dress up, hoping to stand out. Among them were the MTR dragon boat team dressed as pink cartoon pigs, and the The Hong Kong Girl Scouts dragon boat team dressed as Ania, the protagonist of the Japanese anime “Spy House Wine”; the final winner was the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants dragon boat team dressed as a character from “Alice in Wonderland”.
