Vienna/Innsbruck (OTS) – Trust in politics is at an all-time low, new scandals are constantly coming to light and the binding protection of citizens’ interests has faded into the background as the actual main task. The pandemic and wars have also shown us that the preservation of freedom of expression according to the principles of a real democracy is in danger and that the established parties are failing miserably at creating objectivity in the matter and ensuring a factual climate for discussion. In view of this bleak finding, we as locally established citizen lists, citizen initiatives, democracy activists and democratically committed citizens see it as our duty to advocate for a rethink in the political process and for important, long overdue reforms to strengthen Austrian democracy to use. The Yellows offer a platform to talk to each other in an appreciative way from left to right and to redesign Austria. Anyone can join our movement, but in the best case scenario, you not only have to be able to tolerate different opinions, but also appreciate them. In addition to fundamental democratic reforms and the empowerment of each individual within the framework of this new democratic responsibility, it is fundamental for us to respect the reality of people in their diversity. Giving space to every opinion within the constitutional framework in the public discussion and their appreciative and, above all, objective discussion are the only way to stop the decline of Austrian democracy. At the same time, there also needs to be more commitment and control from “those up there”, because in a real democracy it must be ensured that “the people actually do the work”. The Yellows want to bring with them a broad spectrum of citizens who want more real democracy and are exploring possible partnerships with the common declared goal at a retreat with participants from all over Austria on January 13, 2024 in Innsbruck. to sustainably change the Austrian political landscape.

The topics are EU criticism, unconditional basic income, environmental protection and species conservation and inflation.
