Opatija – the old Abbazia – has been a place of longing since the beginnings of Habsburg tourism. Roman, Byzantine, Venetian, Slavic and of course Kakan pasts are reflected here. The influence of the Habsburg Empire can be found on almost every corner: grand hotels, private villas, parks, all of this breathes old Austrian history.
