Exploring Miami International Airport’s Record-Breaking Passenger Growth in 2023

Miami International Airport (MIA) reported that it has served almost 26.2 million passengers in the first half of 2023, which represents an increase of 2.6% compared to its 2022 record and is on track to have more than 52 million travelers this year.

The MIA growth trend is expected to continue through the remainder of 2023, thanks to a variety of service launches scheduled for the second half of the year.

American Airlines announced in July that will operate its largest winter schedule in MIA, From November.

With more than 380 peak-day flights serving 150 destinations, it will increase its seat capacity by 10% from Miami this winter compared to winter 2022 and solidify its position as the busiest airline at MIA.

The airline’s winter program also includes the launch of year-round service to two new domestic routes (Portland, Oregon and Sacramento, California) and seasonal service to five other domestic cities (Buffalo, New York; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Lexington, Kentucky (LEX); Wichita, Kansas; and Wilmington, North Carolina), beginning in November and December.

The low cost airline Norse Atlantic Airways will move all of its South Florida flights to MIA on September 18 starting with four weekly flights to London (Gatwick) and Oslo, two destinations that currently do not have non-stop flights.
