The Egyptian media, Lamees Al-Hadidi, raised the controversy over a question she directed to Dr. Osama Raslan, a teacher at the Faculty of Languages, Cairo University, about the rituals of Hajj.
Lamees Al-Hadidi said in her program “A Last Word” on ONTV channel: “The new generation is asking and we must answer. The needs have developed. Why do we have to go around the Kaaba 7 times, and why don’t we use the new technologies for Hajj?” Lamis confirmed that she was not the one asking this question, but this question was asked more than once and must be answered.
Dr. Osama Raslan replied, saying that there is no embarrassment for a person to ask any question about religion in order to make sure of his belief and strengthen it, so this question is not embarrassing in it, indicating that the goal of the religion of Islam is the highness of the spirit, calm and stability of the body and mindfulness, and that the rituals of Islam require efforts Physical, financial, spiritual, and the ritual of pilgrimage combines all kinds of these endeavours.
And he continued: “The Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: Take your rituals from me, and for this reason we are commanded to perform the obligation of Hajj as the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, did it, and worship in Islam may be linked to a date, and it may be linked to a place, and the obligation of Hajj is linked to a date and place.”
And he added: “In the event that this is violated, it refers us to the issue of the offender, which is a case considered by the Qur’an as blasphemy, as God Almighty said in Surat al-Tawbah (Indeed, the offending is an increase in unbelief), meaning the offending is a conversion or substitution in the months of Hajj.
He stressed that the Kingdom provided metaverse technology for the sake of education, and not for the sake of performing the religious duty. He added that the rituals in Islam were found in order to provide an integrated state of spirituality, and when performing the rituals of Hajj, arrogance disappears from the heart of the Muslim.
