Under his dog mask, Olaff tells us that we should not directly link sexuality to his practice. In puppy play, some move on to private sex, but most make it more of a social practice. “It’s not just about sex, no!”
Olaff explains to us that in his role as a puppy, he forgets everything and lives fully in the present moment. It’s another part of himself that expresses itself, a freer part that allows him to do many things that he would not dare to do as a “human”. “Running after people in the street, giving my leash to a policeman… Without the mask, I’m very shy.”
Puppy play is a social practice that has become increasingly popular in recent years. The puppies find themselves among themselves, sometimes with their masters, the “handlers”. Events are multiplying in bars and parks. The Puppy Belgium community organizes the election of its representative every year.
Olaff tells us about an afternoon at the beach making holes in the sand or this other time in a ball pool, rather noisy and anarchic encounters… “We run after each other, we especially jump on each other. We bicker. We hug each other too.”
Puppies are very present in the gay community, but there are also puppies of all sexual orientations and from all genders or backgrounds, explains Olaff. Olaff who agreed to remove the mask for VEWS. But he quickly put it back on so he could tell us everything about the world of puppies, in complete freedom.
