The manipulation of a pipe by alleged scrap dealers caused the explosion of a Pdvsa Gas plant, located in the La Chicagua sector of the city of El Tigre in the state of Anzoátegui.

The event also led to hundreds of people being evicted from their homes and the suspension of direct gas service in a large part of the city.

According to the information provided by security organizations, the event occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. this Friday, when the safety valve of the gas purifier that distributes this fuel to a large part of the Simón municipality was shot and set on fire. Rodriguez.

This supposedly happened because a few meters from the site of the explosion, there was a gas leak generated by the manipulation of a valve allegedly committed by scrap dealers who are dedicated to the theft of strategic material in the area.

The situation generated great alarm among the population due to the strong explosion and fire that was generated, for which firefighters and Civil Protection personnel had to evict dozens of people from their residences.

The maneuvers of firefighters from El Tigre and PDVSA, as well as workers from the Comprehensive Security Management of the state oil company Ayacucho Division, lasted until 10:00 p.m. when they managed to control the flames.

Some of the actions carried out by the plant operators were to close the valve in the main jump, at the height of La Alfarería to block the passage of gas and thus be able to put out the fire.

This Saturday morning, the workers continued with the work to replace the stolen valve, so the gas service continued to be suspended.
