I started doing sports, I hardly ate anymore.

A drastic and dangerous diet, which could have had serious consequences on his health: “I went below 50 kilos for 1m77.” But Karine Le Marchand affirms it, she is like that: “In life, I am all or nothing. For everything. And in hyper control.” At Liberation, she confided that she had been on the verge of anorexia-bulimia : “Nothing pathological”, she assures, but a desire to keep control.

A perverse universe full of filthy old people

The obsession with weight is not the only thing that pushed Karine Le Marchand to move away from the modeling world. In an interview granted to Brut, she swayed without language of wood the sexism of this universe. “I hated it because first of all I have character and telling myself ‘you’re the object woman’, it was complicated for me to manage. When we paraded, we had to sulk and I laughed all the time.” She also mentioned the rivalry between models, often encouraged by the big names in the fashion world: “It’s not my mentality at all. There were stories! They tripped up, they spilled varnish on the wedding dress because they were upset that they weren’t wearing it. I was completely hallucinating.”

Especially since the world of modeling is also known for its many cases of sexual and sexist harassment. At Gala, she had confided: “The only thing I remember is that there were at the time, fine parties organized by disgusting old people, it was unhealthy, but consented.” Today, the host has absolutely no regrets about having changed careers to escape this toxic environment. She had summarized it very well in the columns of Liberation: “I have made a good life, I love my job and I live well. I am independent, my circle of friends is faithful. I have the impression of having accomplished things on time.”
