F1 driver, meeting for more than 4 hours after declaring to continue Saudi Arabian Grand Prix … Possibility of boycott[F1-Gate .com]

F1 drivers will remain in the hospitality room after the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is declared to continue, holding driver’s meetings for over four hours. The F1 team representative who had been holding the event returned to the paddock again.

In the morning after the second free run, 20 drivers and 10 team principals attended a meeting between F1 CEO Stefano Domonikali and FIA President Mohammed bin Sulayem from the circuit. We discussed the case where Saudi Aramco’s oil storage facility, 10 km away, was hit by a missile attack from the Yemeni armed group “Houthi”.

After the meeting, Stefano Domonikali and Mohammed bin Sulayem declared that they had unanimously agreed to proceed with the rest of the race weekend on schedule.

However, after that, all drivers remained in the F1 Hospitality Room, and the gathering became a Grand Prix Drivers’ Association (GPDA) meeting.

The Race reports that it understands that many drivers have expressed concern about continuing the Grand Prix after a missile attack.

The driver discussion continued for another two hours, with Stefano Domenicali and F1 Managing Director Ross Brawn joining them again for some time.

Then, near 1:30 am local time, team representatives began to return to the building. At first we gathered in another room and rejoined the driver’s meeting.

Mattia Binotto of Scuderia Ferrari, who had left the venue, returned to the circuit and all 10 team principals were there. About 30 minutes later, the team representatives left the hospitality building all at once and headed for the race tower building on the circuit.

At that point, the F1 driver has been in the hospitality room for three and a half hours.

Andreas Seidl, McLaren’s F1 team representative, joined again and continued discussions. Approximately four and a half hours after the first meeting with Stefano Domenicali, the driver group eventually left the building shortly before 2:30 am local time.

GPDA director George Russell went straight to the race tower building where the team representatives remained.

F1’s stance so far is that there is no reason not to race, given that local intelligence agencies do not target the Houthi military activities to the Grand Prix itself and that security measures on the track have been strengthened. It is supposed to be.
