Fact Check: Rafic Hariri International Airport Debunks Misleading 45-Degree Temperature Claim

2023-07-24 20:33:00
The Meteorological Department at Rafic Hariri International Airport denied, in a statement, what is being circulated of exaggerated data that the temperature will touch 45 degrees in the first week of August.

The statement stressed that “temperatures will begin to decline, starting this Saturday, to return to their normal rates. Note that in Beirut, the temperature is not expected to exceed 34 degrees in the coming days, and it has not yet exceeded 32 degrees. The feeling of heat is caused by excess humidity as a result of the rise in the temperature of the Mediterranean water to 29 degrees at this time of the year, and the direction of the hot southwest winds saturated with moisture coming from North Africa that drives moisture towards the Lebanese coast, increasing the feeling of heat.”
