Faculty of Medicine UNAM: Meeting with Student Representatives of the 1st Year Bachelor of Surgeon Group

With the purpose of familiarizing students with the programs intended to enrich their academic training and provide them with relevant information from the Academic Departments, The authorities of the Faculty of Medicine of the UNAM met with the student representatives of the 1st year group of the Bachelor of Surgeon.

On September 21, in the “Dr. Alberto Guevara Rojas”, Dr. Irene Durante Montiel, General Secretary of the Faculty of Medicine, expressed that the group representatives have a considerable responsibility both with their colleagues and with the academics. Likewise, she highlighted that the function of the Faculty authorities is to support them, as long as academic quality is guaranteed: “We know that the first year is a challenging stage, but we trust that they will succeed. Please, if any of his colleagues need individual support, do not hesitate to inform us; Reach out to the people you trust the most, we are here to serve you.”

For her part, Dr. Guadalupe Sánchez Bringas, Coordinator of Basic Sciences of the Medical Surgeon Degree, pointed out that “it is an honor to have all of you here, with the commitment you have shown. This Faculty is your home and we are your academic family; Over time, they will get to know each of the members that make it up.. We want them to always be close and embrace the university values ​​of peaceful coexistence, respect, tolerance, objectivity, honesty, transparency, as well as freedom of thought and expression.”

Dr. Mario Cruz Montoya, responsible for first and second years in the Coordination of Basic Sciences of the Bachelor of Surgeon, indicated that there are 90 first-year groups, and most of them have two representatives. In that sense, he appreciated their presence for the benefit of creating a communication link.

Likewise, teacher Samantha Flores Rodríguez, responsible for the Institutional Ethics and Gender Equality Program, participated; Adriana García Ramírez, responsible for the Institutional Comprehensive Tutoring Program; Dr. Carlos Andrés García y Moreno, Community Services Coordinator; as well as representatives of the departments of Anatomy, Biochemistry, Cellular and Tissue Biology, Embryology and Genetics, Integration of Medical Sciences, Psychiatry and Mental Health, and Public Health.
