Paris – Mark Cavendish, who narrowly missed the record victory in the Tour de France the day before in Bordeaux, was eliminated on Saturday. The former British world champion fell 64 kilometers from the finish of the eighth stage and had to end the cycling tour prematurely with a broken collarbone. The day’s victory went following 200.7 km and 4:12.26 hours from Libourne to Limoges in the sprint to the Dane Mads Pedersen ahead of this year’s three-time stage winner Jasper Philipsen and Wout van Aert (both BEL).
